May 26, 2010 · I ran into a similar issue but not on XP SP2. This was on Server 2003 R2 SP2. The server had .NET Framework 2.0 SP1 installed prior to the SQL Server 2005 install and this seemed to be the cause of my issue.

Okay I have found and uninstalled Microsoft SQL Server Native Client. Did you want me to run the file from DEPENDENCIES before I try and reinstall ACT?

I'd recommend trying checking on ServerFault.com. By the way, I also installed SharePoint 2010 on a server, prior to SQL Server 2008. Had to install SQL Server 2008 on another machine as apparently some component of Sharepoint 2010 beta is newer and causes issues.
