I don't think this is standard practice, but they did it. If you've got the budget, go for Pro Support. I don't see the value in my environment for purchasing it with end-user machines.

We don't have computers in use in primary roles that aren't under support from Dell. Once Pro Support expires, we pull the machine away from the user (who gets a new machine) and end up using it for something less critical (conference room, empty cube used by contractors/interns, etc) Pro Plus is probably a waste of money in your case.
