Mar 05, 2014 · I need to enable bidirectional support to get my printer working fully, but the button is greyed out in the printer properties I recently upgraded from Windows 8 to windows 8.1 and lost all functionality for my Kodak printer.

I regularly install printer drivers as the administrator account, which enables RD users to print to their local printer attached to their client machine. Most are HP's until now. I have tried two different drivers for a Brother DCP-7020 printer, and under properties, ports, the option for "Enable bidirectional support is gray and not available.

Right-click the Canon printer, and then select Printer properties. Select the Ports tab. Confirm that Enable bidirectional support is checked. If you are able to check it, or it is already checked, select Apply-> OK and attempt to print again. If Enable bidirectional support is greyed out, you need to check the printer port setting.
