Elder Abuse and Neglect - Toronto Central Elder abuse is the neglect, or emotional, physical or sexual abuse of elderly people. The abuse may originate with their caretakers, children, grandchildren or other individuals who are sharing their homes or who are responsible for their care in a facility. Our Elder Abuse Support Program is delivered by our Brampton branch in partnership with Family Services of Peel. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year providing telephone support and information to vulnerable seniors in our community who are experiencing elder abuse, or for anyone who knows someone who is being mistreated.

The Seniors and Caregivers Support Service (SCSS) Unit at Family Service Toronto provides social work services to older people and caregivers. Our work includes counselling, group work, advocacy, training and educational sessions on a variety of topics such as aging and memory loss, anger and guilt, how to access community resources, abuse of older adults, etc.
