"GZDoom has mouselook which is something that was broken after Windows 95" Doom.exe still allows mouse support ('mouselook' is a term I wouldn't use when referring to the vanilla engine); it's only Doom 95 (the 'official' Windows port) that sucks balls when it comes to mouse support on a modern OS.

Doom used a mouse if a mouse driver is loaded by the config.sys file. Doom didn't have mouse-look. But, it did use a mouse for direction and the left mouse button for firing weapons.
