Oct 15, 2017 · Audio is send as /audio.cgi. Unfortunately, these cams do not have the ability to send h264 which might combine the audio and video, It would be a nice enhancement to zoneminder to add the option of specifying an audio stream path that could be saved along with the video.

Will do! I did find that on another forum too. Not sure my foscam cameras are supported for audio. Frame rate seems to be much lower in ffmpeg than remote mode though. Not sure if the live view should shoe the audio though, or if the zmNinja app supports audio.

Jan 10, 2016 · Re: audio recording support. ++1. This feature has been discussed/requested before, but the response(s) seem to indicate that it's somehow not a simple task. It HAS to be doable; BlueCherry sells a program that's Linux based that works with their hardware-compression card and it supports audio.

Sep 22, 2017 · I'm now interested in a decent outdoor camera with a microphone that people have used with ZoneMinder. I appreciate that audio isn't technically supported in ZM just yet, but supposedly on the master branch of the project there is support for devices that have h264 stream with embedded audio.

BT8x8 cards are handled by the Kernel module BTTV. A note on the bt8x8-based TV-tuner cards: these usually have beside the tuner input, also a Composite and an S-Video input. You can hook up 2 analog cameras to these, and access from ZoneMinder both of them as individual cameras, at max 15Fps. You don't need two separate TV cards for two cameras!

In summary, Zoneminder will support as many cameras as you have the hardware available for. Every bottleneck can be overcome, but balancing the cost and need is a decision only you can make.

Jan 19, 2020 · All of these solutions support audio which currently smart-zoneminder does not. Compared with smart-zoneminder the closest in capabilities seems to be Nest Aware given its object and face recognition features but is expensive (currently $30/month for the first camera).

Note: Audio can be enabled on models that have it by changing the nil to g726, but ZoneMinder lacks audio support, so doing this would waste network capacity and storage. For example: Remote Host Path: nphMpeg4/g726-640x480 Performance. In RTSP mode, ZoneMinder can get 30 fps from a Panasonic netcam that has an MPEG4 encoder.
