Oct 17, 2017 · OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed. 2 GB or more of memory (I strongly advise, at least, 4 GBs of RAM or more) 8 GB or more of available space. Next, If you run any older Mac software from the earlier PowerPC Macs, then none of this software will work with the newer OS X versions (10.7 and onward).

Mountain Lion is only sold through the Mac App Store, which only runs on OS X 10.6.7 or later. If you depend on PowerPC programs, the latest version of OS X that you can run is Snow Leopard, since Mountain Lion does not support Rosetta, the PowerPC emulator.

Sep 21, 2016 · I was about to say this as I was reading the thread. We had a 2007 iMac 2.4 GHz that ran Lion horribly, but Mountain Lion actually sped it up a lot, plus iMessage and FaceTime support (among other things) is really nice. Wouldn't hurt to give it a go and see.
