YouTube does support 5.1 and has quite a few videos with surround sound. ut also depends on what you are using. My PS4 APP YouTube won't work with surround but my Samsung TV YouTube app does.

Jan 08, 2017 · i went to a youtube 7.1 surround sound 7.1 test and it diddnt work. it did work on my computer test tho, is ther something i have to do ??!? all the "7.1" vids are jsut coming out on the sub and front 3 speakers, please halp!!1!

May 10, 2017 · I have a question: On my headphones (HyperX Gaming Headset) there is an option for 7.1 surround sound. If I listen to music on YouTube, I can turn on the 7.1 and the sound becomes different. Is this the original sound of the music, i. e. the music was recorded and posted in 7.1, or is it just a distortion? Thanks if you take your time to answer!

I have a Macbook and LG BH9540TW surround sound system. I am able to get 5.1 surround sound on some downloaded videos, which suggests that the speakers are properly configured and Macbook can provide 5.1 output to the LG system. But I tried youtube on Firefox, Chrome and Safari but there is no surround sound on the test videos.

It is my understanding that Netflix cannot run 5.1 audio it claims to have when using your browser because Silverlight does not support it. So I assume it will be the same when streaming any video through a browser like YouTube, the videos cannot play it in true Dolby Digital, only Stereo.
