Sep 17, 2008 · My friend has just installed a PC which has 4GB physical memory, but the windows xp on that PC did only find 3GB memory. I've heard that Windows XP support 4GB virtual memory, and the virtual space available to users is about 2GB. But seems never heard that XP 32bit can find only 3GB physical memory.

XP doesn't support 4 GB RAM! A friend on mine recently ordered -- on my advice -- a Vostro 400 tweaked to its highest settings with Windows XP Home, a quad core processor and 4 GM RAM. Fresh out of the box, it started up with the BSOD. After hours spent with tech support, we finally got a tech to the site with a new hard drive and video card.

Jul 30, 2010 · win xp only reconises 4gb in the entire motherboard. i recoment going to windows 2003 as it reconises 4gb in ram and 2 gb in GFX hardware. also win vista is a good OS to run off.

Jan 16, 2008 · Only if it is a 64bit edition, as 32bit will only recognize RAM up to 3gb. However it does sound like overkill to me. In general XP will run fine on 2gb RAM, even with the most demanding of applications. Windows XP does support 4Gb RAM and will run better with it.
