I dont believe it is a raid issue as your computer with windows xp home cant support raid through software and I doubt you have a raid hardware controller. What other ATA settings do you have in the bios. I have run into this with IBM laptops where you have to switch it to legacy mode.

The RAID array must be setup from within an installation of XP. And you won't be able to get around that by using Windows 2000 Server drivers for your card.

Apr 15, 2009 · So it seems that an installation of SP3 on windows XP, will break any software RAID arrays that are currently setup. Furthermore, unless I am doing something wrong, it seems like SP3 completely disables the possiblity of enabling software RAID arrays.
