Now technically I can plug my xbox 360 in my monitor using the vga cable adapter, but then I'd have to constantly plug and unplug the cable to use my pc and the console, which is certifiably not cool. My monitor supports DVI, which would allow me to keep both my computer and console plugged.

Feb 10, 2014 · As for resolution settings, the highest you can go is 1920 x 1080 VGA. Not sure about DVI, or even if the 360 can support DVI (though I wouldn't see why not.) The highest resolution available on the "pre-hdmi" xbox was 720p. Depending on the monitor it might be capable of upscaling, but otherwise that's as good as it's going to get.

Dec 20, 2007 · Since the VGA cable for XBOX 360 is not cheap either, I don't recommend to use VGA. Some monitor doesn't take XBOX 360 VGA signal well. Assuming you have the XBOX 360 Pro that comes with component A/V cable, you might want to try component -> VGA adapter.

Help: 360 not working with HDMI-DVI. AVForums

    https://www.avforums.com/threads/help-360-not-working-with-hdmi-dvi.1190889/
Feb 05, 2010 · If it was composite, then yes the picture will be horrible. Component (which can ran up to 1080p depending on your TV, as HDMI does) will be significantly better. I use an HDMI-DVI cable no problem with my xbox 360 & monitor. Did you try resetting the video resolution to see if that worked (maybe its set to a resolution your TV deos not support)?
