Oct 16, 2018 · This does not mean multi-core support is going live with Patch 8.1. As of this writing, there has been no official announcement from Blizzard about multi-core support. This could just be Blizzard testing the technology alongside Patch 8.1’s development.

May 10, 2012 · Wow is horribly optimised for multi-core processors and still places the huge bulk of its work in a single thread. The benefits are simply from better hardware, not the features of the hardware itself. You get the best out of wow by throwing beefier hardware and bigger numbers at it.

Feb 03, 2010 · It was always possible (edit: OK, not quite) to set it to anything you wanted, even "255" (binary 11111111, use all 8 logical cores of a quad-core processor). I assume it has been coded so that WoW is lower priority than other programs so it doesn't jam up everything else by utilizing all cores.

WoW is heavily CPU dependent and single threaded. The dual core intel CPU will outperform AMD pretty much all the time.

WoW will already use more than one core. You will see more use out of the main core, but it will spread tasks out. There are also guides out there to force the threads wow uses into different cores if you really want, but I don't think you'll notice much change if your CPU is even remotely new since it will be able to handle WoW with a single core without much hassle.
