May 06, 2016 · Some laptops have a USB 3.0 driver available for windows XP you would need to look on the support page for the laptop. That said, a new laptop would likely NOT have that driver as XP is a dead system. I understand you like XP but using it on a new laptop connected to the internet is a really bad idea.

Jan 31, 2012 · I have a Lenovo Thinkpad notebook with built-in USB 3.0 ports. I am using B&R 10.0.11.11844. My backup drive is an external WD MyBook 3.0. I can back up to that drive through the USB 3.0 port under Windows, but if I try to access the drive connected to either a USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 port with the WinPE 3.0 CD, it will not recognize it.

Aug 28, 2013 · It does work fine in my USB 2.0 ports. I have a USB 3.0 external hard drive that works flawlessly connected to all my USB 3.0 ports. I spoke to Gigabyte tech support which was utterly useless so I was wondering if anybody has a more useful advice other than to buy an expansion card. Thanks in advance to all replies,-A

Despite setting the USB controller compatibility to USB 3.0, and installing my printer software in my XP guest, neither my USB 3.0 external hard drives nor my printer are shown as present in my XP Explorer or anywhere within XP. Is this because WinXP does not support USB 3.0? Should I plug my external hard drives and printer into USB 2.0 ports?

Jun 24, 2017 · The lowest possible WIndows guest OS that has USB 3.0 support is Windows 7. As for SATA support, I don't know. But I am wondering why it would matter? The guest OS does not see the host OS hardware, so unlike with a USB external device that you can directly connect to the guest OS, why would you want to have SATA support within Windows XP? --Wil
