Apr 18, 2008 · This has NOTHING to do with XP and XP needs no drivers for SATA drives. Again, the SATA controller may need a driver to work with the motherboard but the SATA drive it's self will never need one with XP. Just make sure you use a SATA drive that matches the SATA connection of your motherboard or SATA controller.

AHCI support is NOT included in Windows XP. Windows reports "no harddrives found" on AHCI machines, ( Normal (S)ATA is of course included in a generic driver, that works with all major chipsets. ) The reason why people are crying out for this beeing a part of SP3 is simple: When installing XP, controller drivers that are not included, must be inserted via the F6 prompt.
