Jul 21, 2010 · Win7 not recognising SATA Native mode. My problem seems the opposite to many already posted about SATA support. My computer has a MSI 863 Neo3 MB which has SATA support. I had to load special SATA drivers to get XP to recognise the SATA drives and XP ran on this machine stably for 5 years.

Mar 03, 2011 · I didn't have to reinstall Windows XP, and you shouldn't have to reinstall Windows 7 either. update: Just for curiosity, I tried switching my disk controller to IDE mode. Windows 7 booted, but then made me reboot immediately, presumably because it had to install the IDE-mode drivers for the disk controller.

Oct 11, 2007 · Once XP is installed, enabling it in the BIOS will result in a BSOD upon loading Windows because XP doesn't have the correct drivers. Enabling SATA native mode will give you a slight performance increase and slightly increased battery life.

Aug 25, 2015 · AHCI vs regular Native IDE Hello. I feel that setting your SATA harddisks to AHCI mode can be mandatory when you have a SSD drive. Doing some benchmarks on my Intel i7 shows that my SSD it's 50% slower running under IDE. Besides I am not sure but does IDE support TRIM commands? ... (Windows XP) don't have support for SATA or AHCI.
