Aug 22, 2011 · We have a Windows Storage Server (2008 R2) setup as a NAS providing NFS service to HP-UX 11i clients. NFS writes are extremely slow. For example, a file of about 250MB that takes less than a second to copy disk-to-disk and just a few seconds to FTP server to server takes 6 to 7 minutes to write to an NFS share.

Nov 11, 2009 · Would never consider Unix for Windows (NFS) as NAS solution for production. Microsoft does not support Unix for Windows in the context fo VMware environment. It does work, I have done it for a couple of years off and on in the lab, since NFS datastores were officially supported by VMware, to compare as baseline for iSCSI evaluation of AX line.

Aug 06, 2013 · Does "DFS" depend on having a "Domain"? I don't know if Storage Server 2008 Standard can create domains? Steve in Alaska NFS is for UNIX systems. Windows can support NFS when needed but you would only ever use it when doing so for purposes of interoperability with a UNIX system.
