Sep 30, 2010 · Your best bet is to use WMA since it is the default windows media audio format. You'll just have to convert your aac files (apple's itunes proprietary format) to aac. MP3 should also work well since it is a standardized format.

Mar 12, 2012 · Are you using windows live movie maker on vista/7? They might have just dropped support for mp3 files completely. Though I could have SWORN WLMM supported MP3s as well.... Holy crap, they did remove support for MP3s..... What the hell? XP movie maker supported MP3s. I wonder why they went and did that?

If you're using version 6.0 or below of Movie Maker and all the wmv files were created in Movie Maker, try going to "Tools > Options > Compatibility" in Movie Maker and unchecking all the filters ending in .ax and see if that helps.
