It says: "Please wait until Windows configures 1394 OHCI compliant host controller (legacy)." It disappears almost immediately. Too quick to read certainly. I tried to take a screenshot but failed.

With Windows 8, Microsoft dropped the Legacy 1394 bus controller driver (1394a) which was included with Windows 7. Some devices do not operate properly with the new (1394b) driver included in Windows 8 (or later). This applies to audio interfaces, video cameras, etc.

The second issue is that Windows 10 does not really support Firewire/1394 anymore. According to Studio Productions, the fix is to install the Windows 8.x legacy driver on Windows 10. (Boy does that sound scary!): Down the .msi file and right click and install it.

May 03, 2011 · I am getting following message: This version of Windows does not support using IEEE 1394 (also known as FireWire, i.Link, or Lynx) for networking. If you were using IEEE 1394 for networking, consider changing to an Ethernet or wireless network. I am trying to hook up JVC GR D 350 camera via firewire and unable to see in windows explorer.
