Description - VMware Workstation : System requirements are Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7 and Windows Server 2003/2008/2008R2. If a virtual machine is turned on by the Wake-On-LAN Virtual Machine service you cannot open it by the vmplayer.exe program. The only way to access it is using remote desktop tools like Remote Desktop Assistant.

Jun 02, 2011 · The NIC is using the tg3 driver and reports to support Wake-On-LAN in the Host -> Configuration screen in the vSphere client. So now I tested some existing Windows XP VMWare hosts created by the VMPlayer and everything is working fine. Now I want to wake up some of the VMWare hosts on that server sending Wake-On-LAN magic pakets to the ESXi host.

Mar 14, 2014 · Its of course very different powering on a virtual desktop through the vCenter server and powering on a physical desktop using wake-on-lan. I have never heard of any VMware product/feature that is doing this using wake-on-lan. So from a VMware perspective this is most likely not supported.
