The cheapest DX11 card is the Radeon 5750 that has 4850/ GTS 250 (aka 9800GTX+) performance. It also supports 8 channel bitstream audio over HDMI if you are a HTPC buff (Bitstream Dolby True HD and DTS HD Master Audio)

You are riight, except that DIRT 2 does utilize DX 11. To confirm for the OP. All it means is that your OS is DX11 ready, should you get a GPU (Currently only available using ATI 5 series GPU's) it will NOT cause a problem for your current GPU. ~Nutz From GURU3D.com:

Sep 06, 2012 · The DX11 API is backwards compatible, assuming you request the proper feature level and don't use newer hardware specific features that you're obviously missing on your more antiquated hardware. It's possible to support all the way down to DX9 class hardware through the DX11 API, though arguably pointless. And no, it won't work on XP.

Nov 27, 2007 · I believe that the 8800GT's do not include DX 10.1 and Shader model 4.1 support. What are peoples opinions on this? Obviously it effect the longivity of the cards but does it matter yet? I know most gamers still use XP but Vista is gaining more support. I personally have a copy of vista but went back to XP as it was too much hard work to support.
