Apr 27, 2019 · If the file is NOT renamed to .m4a but left as .MP4 Sonos on the phone will not even show the file to be played. Renaming the extension of the file does not change the codec. The OTHER issue is that the PLEX connector does not present .MP4 files to SONOS to be played. SONOS only plays .MP4 file without renaming if they are in it's library.

Sep 20, 2016 · AAC is the most common audio stream encoding method for these files, but ALAC (Apple Lossless encoding) may also be stored in M4A files. Sonos does also support ALAC. According to specifications, even MP3 encoded audio data can technically be stored in an M4A container... not sure how well Sonos or other players would handle that, though.

Sep 03, 2013 · Hello Sherburn, Apple m4p tracks are DRM (Fairplay) protected and Sonos will not be able to index nor play them. There is a way to turn them into DRM free tracks with a iTunes Match subscription as described here: click me Regards, Daniel H. This is unbelievable. Feb 01, 2016 · Sonos doesn't "see" WAV files. In a certain iTunes artist folder, I've got 16 albums, all imported from CDs. 3 were brought in as MP4, the rest WAV. Sonos "sees" the 3 MP4 albums, but not the WAV albums.
