That's not HTML5, that's XHTML in XML which pretty much means it was designed for a web page and not really for an email. Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010 use the HTML engine from Microsoft Word instead of the one from Internet Explorer.

Aug 01, 2015 · In outlook 2007/2010/2013 it doesn't give me spacing on the left and right of the dashed border. Between the text and image I use "outlookseparator". When I don't use "outlookseparator" it gives me the spacing at the left side (spacing before the text), but it displays the image under the text.

Nov 21, 2017 · I would like to know why Outlook 2007 and 2010 doesn't support full CSS. We actually I know why, because it uses the Word rendering engine. There really should be an update for Outlook to support proper CSS such as float and position etc. Maybe fix this in Outlook 2010 SP1 as this shouldn't be delayed until the next Office suite.
