The same videos play fine on other PC's in the house, and they play accurately (though choppy) when using software decoding on the Q150. It's only when using DXVA or CUDA does it give me problems. I've tried everything I can think of including FFDShow, MPC-HC, CoreAVC, DivX MF, and even XBMC (beta with DXVA2 support).

I have an Nvidia Ion on Win 7 as my client box, and regardless of the HW acceleration setting in Steam it's still running software decoding. The Ion should be capable of DXVA2 GPU acceleration; is this old hardware just not supported or am I perhaps missing something obvious? **** Just to update this, with a big thanks to XanderChaos...

May 12, 2010 · On my Nvidia Ion machines I use CoreAVC 2.0 because it gives me better results via its CUDA support (the Nvidia alternative to DXVA). I also use AC3Filter on both machines to control my audio output. I use both of these solutions from within WMP12 and W7MC with perfect 1080p playback so I don't need to add any extra player to my machines and try to get the setting to work.

Through Nvidia control panel is possible to add application which should use ION2 but, even if I add mpc hc it's not using ION2. It's definitely a application issue and it would be wonderful if i.e. a mkv video file played on mpc hc could use ION chip instead of Intel's GMA.
