You can use VLAN routing to allow more than one physical port to reside on the same subnet, to span a VLAN over multiple physical networks, or to provide additional segmentation or security. A port can be either a VLAN port or a router port, but not both. However, a VLAN port might be part of a VLAN that is itself a router port.

VLAN 1 is also the management VLAN on switches that support management VLANs. For more information, see What is a management VLAN?. If a port is a member of a link aggregation group (LAG) or you plan to add it to a LAG, do not add it to a VLAN or tag it individually. You must add the LAG to the VLAN as a single unit.

I have an Arris TG862d router/modem. I have no idea how to set it up with my netgear switch so I can have 3 VLANS as mentioned in my original post. If I could get it working even with 1 VLAN and 3 devices on the VLAN that would be ok too. I have 2 PCs and a majicjack Voip that I want to separate from the rest of the house for my business.
