Feb 10, 2012 · Thank you for your response. Problem solved! The Cisco chat support person did not know about the Peer Name Resolution Protocol. Apparently, "PNRP support" in a router is actually a combination of other capabilities related to IPv6 (I am not sure what, not being an expert).

I'm having trouble understanding why I can't use the "Easy Connect" function within Win 7 Microsoft Remote Assistance. The documentation says the router being used must support PNRP (Peer Name Resolution Protocol) - does anyone know whether this router (with it's old firmware) supports PNRP?

Mar 12, 2016 · Yes computer is connected to a LAN which runs on a D-link DIR-655 router. It is connected to the router directly through a gigabyte ethernet cable (CAT6). Homegroup requires Peer Name Resolution Protocol which does not work.
