Aug 21, 2019 · I want to control the remaining 3 fans through my case's built-in PWM fan controller, a Fractal Design Define S2. However, the manufacturer's manual instructs me to plug the PWM fan controller cable into the CPU header on my motherboard. This is not an option because my motherboard doesn't recognize it plugged into the CPU header.

This works, but not nearly as well as PWM does. Generally speaking most modern motherboards support PWM, at the very least it is supported on the CPU fan, and often it is also supported other fan headers as well. Your Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 motherboard does support 4-pin PWM fans on the SYS_FAN header.

My problem is that the fans run constantly no matter what the temps. The stock fans shut off below 50 degrees however it’s currently running at 23 degrees and the fans are blaring away. Is it possible that the PWM wiring on the graphics card has a slightly different wiring layout to the motherboard? diagram
