Jun 16, 2011 · I had a chat with Intel a few months ago about port multiplier support. The last chipset supporting PM is P35. Everything later then P35 is without Port Multiplier support, because it is not compatible with RST Rapid Storage Tech drivers. I had a 4 bay esata/usb3 enclosure hooked on an esatabracket connected to the sata2 on my P35 motherboard.

Does my motherboard support SATA port multiplication? I've got a Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L and I just received a Mediasonic HF2-SU2S2 . It has a note saying that to use the eSATA with the box your board has to support 'Port Multiplier'.

Jan 22, 2010 · So you're saying I can run a single cable from the motherboard of my MacPro out as an eSATA port, and connect one SATA cable to the Qx2, and have it recognize all 4 drives? OWC Jamie said that it can't act as a port multiplier. How does it do it with the Qx2 then, and not with any other enclosure? Edit - ok I think I see how.

Mar 05, 2010 · Since I'll be needing a docking station does this board support Hot-Swappable on the Esata and does it have Port Multiplier enabled eSATA controller (thats so I can use more than 1 HD off the docking station)? Those features are very important to me. So if it is not compatible with those features can anyone steer me in the right direction.
