Yes, your MacBook Pro supports 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz but not simultaneously. All Macs manufactured since 2007 with integrated Wi-fi support 802.11 a/b/g/n and and some 2006 Macs support 802.11 a/b/g. Only AirPort Base Station and Time Capsules released in March 2009 or later can operate simultaneously over both bands. Source

Feb 14, 2016 · mm, I checked and it only sees the 2.4. need to check again when back at the machine. Ah...you posted the speed of your processor...this has nothing to do with your Wireless connection. All new MacBook Pro's will connect to either the 5GHz band or the 2.4GHz band.

Apr 01, 2013 · It is very noticeable on my MacBook Air. I'll be using it and I'll have drop outs - the signal strength indicator is good, but the wifi performance slows to a crawl or just flat out stops. Safari stops loading pages, Mac App Store downloads stop or slow to a crawl. If I switch to the other band everything goes back to normal and it is fast again.
