Apr 28, 2013 · If you don’t have the sound option for HDMI it’s likely because the adapter you are using does not support HDMI audio. Many of the cheaper adapters for display-port to HDMI do not support audio, you have to buy an adapter that specifically does support audio output.

Oct 28, 2011 · hi mate,i bought a moshi hdmi to mini dp and i have the smae problem,on both my mbpro 15 and mba 11,vid but no sound,but on my mbpro in vista bcamp the sound works,i get the sys prefs sound option coming up,but although i select it it still dont work,i wonder if mac osx 10.6.4 has made it not work,so far thats what ive got from searching net,ie it worked in 10.6.3.let us know if u find ...

Nov 11, 2011 · Mac Mini (2010)-HDMI adaptor --> HDMI cable --> TV-red/white audio cables --> TV I recently purchased a 2011 Mac mini, to replace it. The setup is alot cleaner as I am just using an HDMI cable to take care of video an audio. The problem is with the new setup, no sound is coming from the tv, only internal speakers on the Mac mini.
