Will Ubuntu utilize both processors, especially with both being quad core, optimally? Dec 29, 2012 · What distribution? It's 8 for typical Symmetric Multiprocessing (SMP) hardware and 32 for bigger SMP hardware. The maximum is 4096 but AFAIK it's only used for code testing purposes and you'll have a hard time finding hardware with that many CPUs....

Apr 28, 2008 · If Linux is able to use all four cores, even with non-multithreading programs (via that assignment thing or whatever), it would be well worth it to go for quad-core. If not, though, then I might just get a dual-core.
