No suprise I looked at wake on lan. I have a dell t30 and it is capable of wol. However I turned it on and tried it with freenas and I cant get it to work. After some research I think that this won't work with freenas. Does anyone of you guys any experience with this? Or maybe there is someone with a different setup that does something similar?

Jul 05, 2015 · I have a problem with my FreeNAS system at home. I installed the FreeNAS 9.1.1-RELEASE (64-Bit) Disk-Image on a USB Disk. At first, everything worked fine with the installation and configuration. But to get a bit further I want to use WOL (Wake on LAN). I'm using the ASUS H87i-Plus with an i217 NIC (which should support WOL).

I'm currently shopping for hardware for a FreeNAS box. One of my "must have" (or close to "must have") requirements is Wake on LAN (WoL) In my experimentation with an old graphics workstation, I've found (with various google hits) various degrees of driver support for FreeBSD/NAS and WOL.

Dec 09, 2015 · Thanks alot everyone, I am an IT guy myself but freenas is a whole new beast, when it come to something like Wake on LAN it really doesn't differ from have a Windows or Linux install on your boot disk because WOL is run by the system hardware and controlled by the BIOS and chipset.4.7/5(3)

If it works before FreeNAS boots, then it must be that FreeNAS is not sending the signal to keep the network adapter switched on, waiting for the WOL signal. ifconfig -m output does not show any WOL capabilities or options, even when I just started the FreeNAS system with a WOL packet, using the forced shutdown method mentioned above.
