The thing is I need to create VLANs using the small business SG300 switches and propagate those VLANs to the C2960S using the GVRP protocol, but Cat2960S only have VTP protocol to propagate VLANs. I have found on the internet that Small business SG300 does not support VTP but I’m not sure.

Nov 21, 2014 · Hi guys, anyone can help me on how to configure/enable GVRP on my cisco switch. On the CLI, i used the command "set gvrp enable" but it wont work, it gave me "Invalid input detected".

If an interface attempts to join a VLAN that does not exist and Dynamic VLAN creation is enabled, the switch automatically creates the VLAN. Hi I have a Catalyst 6509 as a core router/switch. we want to add Catalyst 3750 switch to our network, and we have already the Enterasys N3 switch. As far as I know, 3750 can not work with GVRP and the other switches dont work with VTP. Can I use both protocols on my 6509 (work with both of them)...

The port that is being configured with GVRP must be configured in truck mode or general mode as GVRP requires support for tagging. When the VLAN's propagate from the master switch to the non-master switches via GVRP, it would be considered as dynamic VLANs.
