Mar 12, 2018 · I had tried those options with no result. Finally I contacted Microsoft Technical Support. What they found was AOL added an additional security check (2-step authentication). It was necessary to sign into my AOL account , request the generation of a password for the Outlook.com app , that was part of AOL's 2-step authentication process.
