Oct 20, 2012 · Motioninjoy works perfectly, it spoofs the PS3 pad as an Xbox controller. The only reason PC games have the Xbox assets for buttons is because most games are just ports. I plugged the controller in using a mini USB cable, was detected fine.

In very general terms most newer PC games will support console controllers, the 360 controller in particular. Obvious exceptions to that rule will be strategy games and the like, although I suspect even some strategy games might support a controller. But most modern action games (FPS, TPS, racing, fighting, etc.) support controllers on the PC.

Not sure if an answer so ill put it as a comment, but officially steam will not always support ps3/ps4 controllers but some games will support it. The most sure way to get a dualshock controller working on pretty much any game is to use a type of emulator that basically "tricks" your computer into thinking your controller is a xbox controller.

Aug 06, 2013 · The reason PS3 controllers aren't supported on PC is because Microsoft owns that territory with XBLA and Xbox controllers. Gearbox/Steam can't and won't patch it because that's not possible. If you plug an Xbox controller in, everything works fine, just like on consoles.
