Doom used a mouse if a mouse driver is loaded by the config.sys file. Doom didn't have mouse-look. But, it did use a mouse for direction and the left mouse button for firing weapons.

Dec 12, 2012 · Isn't Mouse support a little bit unfair? I mean, play Doom 1 E1M1 without mouse support on nightmare. With mouse support, it will be a little bit easier. How could anything be fair, or unfair in a single player game? Isn't it all about enjoying the game?

Oct 09, 2011 · Did Wolf3D need looking up and down? No. Did it need jumping or crouching? No. Did it need over/under collision checks between things? No. Did it need to check the vertical distance for computations such as speed or blast damage? No. Then why would Doom have needed any of these things? Doom wasn't 2.5D, it was more like 2.25D.

May 10, 2014 · Hi all, I just got Ultimate DOOM and DOOM II Steam versions today and immediately put together fixes for both of them to disable the mouse y-axis, making them control much more like modern shooters. Also included are tweaked config files to deliver the correct 4:3 aspect ratio, slightly better pixel smoothing and some tweaks to enable more sound channels. Download the fixes from my Dropbox, …

May 13, 2016 · Yes, they're not the same and Doom does not have mouse acceleration. Mouse acceleration is a setting where the cursor distances increases if the mouse is moved quickly. Mouse smoothing is the interpolation of raw input data from the mouse …

Aug 16, 2004 · I too am one of the few people that use a joystick in the left hand and a mouse in the right hand for FPS games. IMHO, it's just a better, easier way to play FPS. No hand cramps from using the KeyB and movement is much more fluid. I must say, I was highly disappointed to learn Doom 3 did not have joystick support. There is a solution!!! RBJoy!!

Jun 16, 2016 · ZDoom added it because Hexen had it, so it because a Doom mainstay from there. Doom orignally did have Y-shearing (the function of freelooking in Doom's renderer) in the early alphas with the camera "pitched down" marginally, but moved it back to center later, which is where Heretic & …

Jul 19, 2011 · So, I actually never played Doom 1, and while the levels were all flat and you couldn't look up or down (nor was there reason to), I just can't see turning with the keyboard to be superior than turning with the mouse (even if there was a key to do 180 degree turns). So, what say you old(er)...

Dear ID: Please add Keyboard and Mouse support to Doom Eternal. DOOM Eternal. For the better controls, obviously disable it in multiplayer though. Doom 2016 lacked native support, it'd be nice to see it implemented, especially with the heavy emphasis on it in the trailer. 6 comments. share.
