Cygwin FAQ

    https://www.cygwin.com/faq.html
Cygwin does support spaces in filenames and paths. That said, some utilities that use the library may not, since files don't typically contain spaces in Unix. If you stumble into problems with this, you will need to either fix the utilities or stop using spaces in filenames used by Cygwin tools.

Cygwin Support · Issue #82 · giampaolo/psutil · GitHub

    https://github.com/giampaolo/psutil/issues/82
May 23, 2014 · Cygwin acts like a POSIX environment, but the system level code still needs to be Windows-specific. Unfortunately this means that most of the code is similar to the Windows codebase, but that the Cygwin version of Python doesn't know about things like PyErr_SetFromWindowsErr which we use all over the place.

Chapter 3. Using Cygwin

    https://cygwin.com/cygwin-ug-net/using.html
The Cygwin DLL supports user specific fstab files. These are stored in the directory /etc/fstab.d and the name of the file is the Cygwin username of the user, as it's created from the Windows account database or stored in the /etc/passwd file (see the section called “Mapping Windows accounts to POSIX accounts”).

Cygwin/X

    https://x.cygwin.com/
Cygwin provides a UNIX-like API, thereby minimizing the amount of porting required. Cygwin/X consists of an X server, X libraries, and nearly all of the standard X clients, such as xterm, xhost, xdpyinfo, xclock, xeyes, etc. Many more X programs are also packaged for Cygwin. See also the features and screenshots pages.

Cygwin - Wikipedia

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cygwin
Cygwin supports POSIX symbolic links, representing them as plain-text files with the system attribute set. Cygwin 1.5 represented them as Windows Explorer shortcuts, but this has been changed for reasons of performance and POSIX correctness.License: LGPLv3
