Android still does not support Java applets, nor will it, without major work. The Java in Android isn't 'real' Java - it is a custom written version by Google. Android apps may be written in Java, but they are converted to Dalvik at compile time. As such, it would be nigh on impossible to develop a browser that has compatibility for Java Applets.

I have a CR-48 with Chrome OS and it does not support applets currently. No idea if that will change. Personally, I think it would be nice to have applet support. The CR-48 supports the proprietary flash plugin, it should support the open source java plugin as well.

Thanks for the tip. I love Chrome but one thing i hate is that it's build in flash player does NOT play video or games as smooth as the stand alone plugin from adobe. Taking that functionality away from us will make a lot of users leave this browser, so i suggest Google finds a solution for this problem.

Mitch since there is a java VM and the libraries and JARS to support it in the droid OS and any browser app gets to access these in the android SDK and I assuming using something akin to JWT or swing then a plugin or browser for applets is NOT a resource problem.
