Oct 02, 2013 · If you're running CA servers on Windows 2008 R2 and above and trying to request a computer certificate templates V3 using web enrollment (CAWE), it will not work. This was an enhancement that we introduced in Windows 2008 R2. Now web enrollment (CAWE) doesn’t support V3 templates.

Sep 10, 2015 · Hi Mark, The web enrollment website is residing on another computer. No I haven't rebooted the machine which is having the web enrollment website. Yes I did ran the command certuti -ping fqdn\caname and it is successfull. Should I really re-start the machine which is having the web enrollment website or should I explore any other ways. The machine has to be a domain member if it is hosting the enrollment web services, because they have to be secured with Kerberos. If this is still not working please see the attached document for troubleshooting steps.

Ironically, this same limitation is present all the way through Windows Server 2012 R2. The certsrv site still can't use version 3 templates.
