The issue is in CentOS 5. I ran the application successfully in Ubuntu 8.04. PCRE in CentOS does not have "unicode properties" enabled. So it's not utf-8 support which is missing. Is there a way to enable these options (without the usual ./configure make)?

May 25, 2006 · Hi CentOS Community, Consider that I have two CentOS boxes, one being CentOS4 (good), and the other, CentOS5 (misbehaved). On the misbehaved box, SQL queries inserted via PHP, which contain utf-8 characters, cause strange truncations in the insertion queries.
