    Dec 06, 2012 · Im running a U2711 at 2560x1440@40hz 32bit over HDMI on a Sony SA notebook as a temporary measure. There are ways of editing the drivers to custom refresh rates, as long as the connection can handle the bandwidth. Its useable for web or photo work, but not for gaming. VGA will simply not go this high, its a very very old interface.
