    Aug 19, 2010 · C1E Support is Disabled by default so I'm still not sure what use it has. TurboMode can be disabled and SpeedStep will stay enabled, but if SpeedStep is disabled, then TurboMode gets disabled. C-STATE gets disabled when I up the bclk, but I enable it before exiting the BIOS.

(007vsMagua) That was the case for older CPU's but the i3/i5/i7 benefit from both, SpeedStep is better for changing the multiplier/voltage but C State has additional benefits on the new Intel CPU's, instead of the whole CPU either being on/off/idle parts of the CPU can now be turned on/off or set to idle and this works in conjunction with intels Turbo Mode.

There may be a swich in BIOS just for C1E; otherwise use free ThrottleStop software or similar. 2. Disabling SpeedStep in BIOS can also cap CPU performance (e.g. lock out turbo speeds).

    Oct 05, 2012 · Disabling Cstates and/or speedstep is a hang over from the good(bad) old days of OCing. Old lore. New processors and MBs let you use them even OCing which is a great thing!! Gives life to your CPU and reduces power usage. Use offset voltage and speedstep will lower your voltage at idle etc. for 4.6 you can definitely leave all the cool stuff on.
