Lines BC and CD are made of 1 support line and 1 thin copper wire for, again, a unit lenght weight of .001 lb, and strain capacity of 20 lb (only the support wire will bear any constrain, the copper wire only brought along on support wire, for it's antenna function. So only the support wire would be attached to the ground and the balloons.

I use the wire and the line taped about every three feet. I leave about three feet of antenna wire dangling at the top to keep high voltage away from the support line. I learned this the hard way after bursting two balloons at key down (400 watts) and losing a balloon when the support line burned through.

The antenna is 207-feet/63.10-meters long, has 4 ground-mounted radials, and uses a "tuner" at the base of the antenna. This trio of friends says the performance of this antenna is quite good.

Any balloon will surely leak helium over time. Several posters said that their balloons came down after a day or two. Safety concerns abound. Nearby power lines are obviously a concern. The balloon should probably have a tether line in addition to the antenna wire, in case the antenna wire breaks at the ground.
