Comparing Axis2 and JAX WS. Axis2 can be considered as more mature framework as compared to JAX WS framework. Axis2 supports ADB, JIXB, XMLBeans whereas JAX WS supports only JAXB for binding support. JAX WS supports its own implementation of JAX WS programming model and does not support Axis2 programming model.

Configuring the service via services.xml has been removed from axis2's jaxws support, so that is dead end. Using Apache CXF instead of Axis2 is not a good solution because it could create a support nightmare. The tomcat version of web.xml looks like this:

usually there is only Axis that you use, however now JAX-WS has come to the equation. What I'd to know is whether there has been an analysis done comparing JAX-WS vs Axis2, going through each advantages and disadvantages. What I've got so far is JAX-WS requires 1.5 and access to the WSDL at runtime. Our environment is 1.5 running on JBoss 4.0.
