Imposed Support Displacement In AutoPIPE simply assign a displacement at the support for any load case, GR, T1, T2, E1, etc during modelling. Caesar has limitation of defining only 9 displacements which have to be combined in post processing to specific load cases.

Oct 15, 2019 · Again, as you know, using Insert Support Displacement command assign it to a load case with the correct amount of displacement per that load case. Recall from AutoPIPE help, Impose support displacement is applied to the base of the support. If the support stiffness is Rigid, than 100% of the displacement will be transmitted to the piping.

Therefore, "Impose Support Displacement" can be assigned and will affect Soil point locations. Furthermore, only those soil points that actually have "Imposed Support Displacement" assigned will move when the specified load case is applied during the analysis. This action will affect surrounding piping because the pipe is not made of bubble gum.

Bentley AutoPIPE like all other stress programs uses 1-D finite elements which use simple Beam element center-line based theory, also known as the stiffness or displacement method, to mathematically model the piping system in three dimensional space. The system is formulated into a set of linear equations, describing the system characteristics ...

Dec 23, 2010 · Using AutoPIPE, go to Insert>Xtra Data>Imposed Support Displacment This will add displacment and roations in whatever direction you please. Simply select the correct load case to combine the displacments with (in your case this would be the gravity case.

You can define imposed displacements on structure support nodes. This type of load is defined in the local coordinate system of a rotated support, and can be applied in directions that are blocked or elastic for a given support only. The imposed displacement of a supported node can be used in static calculations as well as in the time history analysis.

Reuse design data by creating a structural model in STAAD or SACS and import it into AutoPIPE for a more realistic, fully integrated, bi-directional piping and structural analysis. You can also import the final piping model, complete with pipe support …

The displacement stress range S E is the calculated range of secondary stress a piping system will generate when subjected to thermal expansion or contraction. Pressure and weight i.e. primary stresses are not considered in this evaluation. This value is compared with allowable stress range, S A. The B31.3 equation for the displacement stress ...
