Nov 20, 2012 · I recently upgraded to mountain lion from snow leapard, skipping lion. Apple's modem is supposedly not supported due to its need for a software driver. However, I am able to use a Zoom USB Mini External modem Model 3095 with Mountain Lion. No software driver required for the Zoom modem.

Aug 24, 2011 · Has anyone else who upgraded to Lion been told that their Apple External USB Modem is incompatible? I knew about Rosetta and Front Row, but I didn't know that my modem would become incompatible. Is there a work-around for this or am I stuck now with a $49 bauble?

Nov 03, 2012 · It works fine both as a communications and FAX modem. Delete the Apple Modem from your device lists; install the US Robotics modem script (from the included CD, or download from their site). Then, add it as a FAX device and/or network device. The only difference I see between it and the Apple Modem is the lack of familiar modem audio.

Sep 15, 2011 · One of the many forward-looking changes found in Mac OS X Lion is the sad fact that Apple appears to have formally discontinued support for old analog modems. Apple’s USB modem appears to no longer function under Lion, which is just as well, since I sincerely doubt that more than 10 people in the world still actually use one of these things.
