Dec 17, 2004 · If you don't see it, APM is not compiled into your kernel. See kernel-compile-threads in this forum to get a start on compiling your own kernel. (You can do the same grep command to check for ACPI.) Asuming that APM is compiled into your kernel, next step is to see if it is activated.

Oct 22, 2014 · You need to boot the kernel with the "apm=on" option if you want to enable the driver. In most cases, users may want to know that there are newer power management schemes, like ACPI. Lenny reached end of life on Feb 06, 2012. If you are unsure if you can uninstall apmd package, try to execute apm. If you have no APM support, you can safely uninstall it.
