Use the japanese support to make Furigana on the go. A good place to start is reading the Tae Kim's Guide To Grammar and making sentence cards with those sentences. I also like to use WaniKani sentences since I'm a subscriber. I grind trough the decks on the bus.

Jun 24, 2017 · The Anki Japanese Support Plugin uses a syntax with brackets to populate the Reading field, e.g. 昨日[きのう]すき 焼[や]きを 食[た]べました where furigana in brackets follow consecutive kanji (or kanji belonging to single words, haven’t figured that out yet). It looks like AnkiDroid also supports correctly rendering these Reading fields.

Also, in your note type template, make sure that furigana: is not inserted in front of the field name, inside of the curly brackets. If you want to convert cards that you originally generated with the Japanese Support add-on to MIA Japanese syntax, use the mass generation feature to re-generate with MIA Japanese syntax for those cards.

Nov 15, 2012 · I want to create a deck and a flashcard in Ankidroid, and have it display furigana above my kanji. From what I've read, it should be as simple as writing the kanji word followed by the furigana in square brackets, like so: 日本語[にほんご].
