For my money there is nothing wrong with using HibernateDaoSupport. It isn't deprecated in spring 3.0. Can you provide the question number that you found, it maybe they where refering to a very specific use case. The alternative is to use the @Repository annotation.

Hi All, While using gethibernateTemplate() I observed this is deprecated as per spring-orm version 3(as SessionFactory.getCurrentSession() was not present) but not deprecated as per spring-orm version 4.

If you are using Hibernate 3.1 or higher, you should not use the HibernateTemplate or HibernateDaoSupport classes in your code. You will not receive any benefits except coupling your code to Spring, which Spring does not want you to do. Thanks Mark
