My guess would be on of the other two of the packages are installed, so that's why akonadi-backend-mysql is not installed. Apr 18, 2012 · I've been looking for this information a long time and found it somewhere on Google groups. I thought it was worth spreading. I've made the change (Kubuntu Oneiric/KDE 4.8.2/akonadi-backend-sqlite 1.7.2-0ubuntu1~ppa2~oneiric1) and have so far not seen any problems. Would be great if this could be configured in Akonadi Server Configuration.

Akonadi supports it, it is possible to change the database backend in the akonaditray or in the akonadiconsole application. Changing backends means importing all your data again to the database, like you'd start from scratch.

I would like to remove all KDE PIM related modules: kmail, calendar, akonadi and the db etc as I am not using them actively. There is no clear documentation on how to uninstall those modules apart from some old discussion board comments which are caught between KDE/plasma 4 and 5.
