Jun 16, 2012 · Hi All, I have a Problem with an Old Compaq Deskpro En Series SFF Desktop from 1998. When it Boots Up it comes up with 1780 Disk 0 Failure. It will also then give you an option to boot to an IDE Disc Drive with a copy of XP where the new hard drive I'm using is being detected by the Windows Disk.

Mar 10, 2008 · Hi ! I have this problem with my hd. I try to boot and format the hd from a winxp cd but it displays always 1780-disk 0 Failure. Of course i changed it from the bios to boot from the cd first.

1790-Disk 0 Failure: The 5170's POST, upon seeing that a hard drive is included in the SETUP configuration (CMOS SETUP), asked the hard disk controller to perform an 'internal diagnostic' (see 1782 error). That passed. The POST then asked the controller to issue a 'Recalibrate drive' command to the first hard drive (see 1780 error). That passed.
